Family pics

This weekend we got our good friend, Meredith, to come out to the park with us and take some pictures. We didn't get as many good "family pictures" as we would have like because Charlotte was running around all over the place, but the ones we got were pretty good. I'm surprisingly very please with how they turned out, Thanks to Meredith! Here are a few of our faves

Just for Fun!!

If anyone's interested, Check out Meredith's Blog: MeredithCurtisPhotography, She's over on the side of my blog. Super sweet girl from our small group at church and so so so patient to work with a two year old!!! She worked wonders on these pictures!

Fair Fun

A couple of weeks ago we went to the County Fair here in Fayetteville. Even though Charlotte was an inch too short to ride anything, we still found some fun things to do. We spent a lot of time at the petting zoo and watching other random events.

Here we are watching the "Banana Derby" That's right, it's a monkey riding a dog in a race against other monkey and dog teams. Good fun.
And here were the Pig races. Surprisingly, Char like these better than the monkeys. Maybe bc the pigs didn't have 30 minute introductions before the races started like the monkeys did.

Hmm, April has Come and Gone.

Hmm, well, I haven't been up to much lately, at least not on the computer. We had a crash. We were able to revive it back to how it came out of the box but that means we lost everything we hadn't yet backed up. We were able to get most of the pictures but lost all of our installed programs and music. It's been very frustrating.

During this time, we've been pretty busy with other stuff. If you haven't heard yet, we made the decision to move to Houston with my work. We took our "preview trip" at the end of April and ended up finding a house we really liked and at a decent price. So everything has been on fast forward since then. We close on the Houston house June 30th and I just scheduled the movers to come to Fayetteville July 12. TONS of paperwork, cleaning for appraisers and inspectors, Chris is done with school and Charlotte's no longer in daycare. There's a lot going on. The only reason I'm getting to do this now is because Chris took Charlotte to Conway for a couple of days to get in some Meachum Family time before we go.

Anyway, just wanted to post some fun pics from the last few weeks.

We dog-sat for Val and Jonathan and I love these pictures. Nobody gets to hug on Buster like Charlotte does. For some reason, Buster lets her do anything and they love each other so much! Before I got these pictures, they were taking rides in the basket together while Chris pushed.

These pics are after we walked in the Race for the Cure. We got lots of goodies afterwards, Charlotte LOVED this giant sucker. She thought it was so funny to put it all in her mouth at once.

This was our trip to the Razorback Baseball game with our small group from Church. Charlotte wanted to see the piggie so badly and I was so excited he actually came over to see us but as soon as he got close, Charlotte wanted NOTHING to do with him. She was scared to death! But of course, as soon as he left she wanted to go see him again.

Braden and Charlotte

All of our small group ladies: Brittany, Lisa, Meredith, Heather and me.

All of our small group men: Matt, Andrew, Dave, Chris, Ben, and Brad

The whole gang, except Ben and Brittany who got away before we could find anyone to take the pic for us.

Spring time at Big Cedar

Last weekend we had a sort of impromptu girls weekend at Big Cedar in Branson with my mom, Val, Charlotte and I. The weather was absolutely perfect so Saturday morning we got up and went to take some pics. After we took pictures, we had the mandatory day of shopping at the quilt store and outlet mall. It's funny how kiddos change your shopping habits. I only bought one shirt for myself and some stuff and the fabric store and everything else was for Charlotte. Hmm, oh well. Saturday night we ate dinner at the Mexican place at The Landing (I don't remember the name but it was very good). Charlotte didn't really eat much beacause she was more interested in the water, the bubble machines and then there was a two-man group outside putting on a "drum" show with a bunch of different sized buckets. She loved them. Mom has some pics on her camera but I didn't have mine with me. They were acutally pretty good and very entertaining.

Welcome Spring!!

So on the first day of Spring 2010, We got a foot of snow!! It was rediculous. Charlotte didn't really want to have anything to do with it so as soon as she fell asleep, Chris, Oscar and I headed out to play. Chris built this giagantic snow man and I made snow angels and then we had a snow ball fight with Oscar. He loved all the attention without Charlotte around.

The next week, I scored a couple of free tickets to the Razorback baseball game so we all three went and now Charlotte and I have both been to our first Razorback baseball game. Despite perfect weather, it wasn't very crowded so Charlotte had a good time running around checking everything out. The mascot kind of scared her when he got to close, but as long as he was at a distance, she enjoyed seeing him.

This brings us to Easter weekend. We had our Church egg hunt and picnic the Saturday before Easter and again had perfect weather. Charlotte was more into the hunt this year except that now she knows there's candy inside the eggs so everytime she found one, she would have to stop to see what was inside it and eat it immediately. Oh well, it was still fun! In the group pic, she's the shorty down in front on the right.

Here we are Easter Sunday. Mom made her dress again this year even after she'd already bought her a pretty one. I decided it's way too early to stop making Charlotte's Easter dresses because before you know it, she won't want to wear anything "home-made" and have to have the store-bought dresses. And I just like to know that mom made her dresses each year.

One of my two Works In Progress

Well I've been working on this one for a very long time - in my head. I found these sweet little reproduction fabrics with dogs on them a little over a year ago and thought they would make a nice little quilt. Since then I've been trying to collect other prints to coordinate with these dogs. I' was kind of going for a more contemporary feeling to bring these little guys more up to date and I wanted to stay in the same color families using tone-on-tone prints just for stability. You wouldn't think blue fabrics would be so hard to find but this weekend I finally gave in and settled on my last three fabrics. I still don't really care for these last three but I've put it off long enough and need to get something done. I won't tell which ones they are but you can probably figure it out if you look close enough.
I cut and sewed for most of the day and then tonight when I was trying to figure out my layout, decided that I didn't like what I was going toward and ended up ripping it all out and starting over. So here's my first block and I think I'll be happy with this. I still don't have an overall picture of what this quilt is going to look like but it's a start. If you haven't figured out by now, I don't really like to use patterns because most of the time I buy my fabric before I know whant I'm going to do with it and when I find fabrics I like, I'd rather just put them down how I see them in my head. When I find a pattern I like, I'll find fabric to go with it afterwards.
My original plan was to make this quilt and donate it to the Ozarks Berry Festival Quilt Auction this summer but I'm not sure if it will be done in time so it may have to wait another year.

Just for fun, here's a cute pic of Char as we were getting ready to start dyeing some Easter eggs.
